2015 Recipient - Barb Mock

Our first recipient is -- Barb Mock

When Barb, a music educator retired, I thought and still think, what a loss for our students. Luckily for the students, and NSBA, she is still teaching music, traveling, and taking care of our exhibitors. Barb has a wonderful knack for combining her passion for band and teaching of band with her keen business sense in helping make decisions that have the best interests of the organization and the students of Nebraska in mind. Her number one question has always been, “how will this benefit our membership” or “how will this benefit our students.”

Barb Mock gets “the big picture” and is very forward thinking when it comes to helping the NSBA board make important decisions. Her keen business sense was instrumental in initiating the Corporate Sponsorship program for NSBA, allowing new funds to be directed directly to NSBA projects that benefit our students. Her exceptional business and communication skills has helped forge many long-lasting releationships with UNL and the Embassy Suites, helping make the NSBA spring convention what it is today. When approached by others with concerns or challenges, she is a listener first, an adovocate and then a problem solver. All excellent qualities that help exemplify NSBA’s motto of “Better Bands for Nebraska” She is always looking towards the horizion! Thank you Barb for your selfless service to NSBA!

The Nebraska State Bandmasters Association is honored to present to Barb Mock, the Duane E Johnson Distinguished Service Award.
